Hi, all,
I'm teaching at a college/vocational program for people with intellectual disabilities where we teach them about various video vocational and independent living situations. I would like to do a lesson for the students about faith and spirituality-what role spirituality may play in someone's plan for an independent life, what it means to practice a faith or not, and some discussion of how different religions conceptualize disability. I have some good leads for Christianity, Judaism & Islam, but I can't seem to find plain-language information about how disability is conceptualized by Eastern religious philosophies like Buddhism & Hinduism.  know that the concept of Karma has lead to some unfortunate ideas about disabled people, but I also know that some Hindu gods have been conceptualized as physically disabled, and I know that some people with disabilities get a lot of solace and satisfaction out of practicing one of those faiths. Can anyone give me some recommendations for information that I could share with my students?

Also, although I am lacking sources on Eastern spirituality & have some good ones for the main monotheistic religions, I would still appreciate sources related to how those faiths conceptualize disability and about the experiences of disabled people who practice them. Feel free to send any resource on disability & spirituality.

Thanks!!
Best,
Meghan
