CALL FOR PAPERS: Spirituality and Disability Symposium Fordham University, New York, NY April 8-9, 2022 (Online) The Fordham University Research Consortium on Disability (RCD) and Graduate School of Religion (GRE) invite you to submit a paper to the multidisciplinary and international online conference on Spirituality and Disability. This symposium will provide a forum to discuss both religious and non-religious perspectives on the intersections of spirituality and disability in terms of lived experience and viewed through multiple models, such as those employed by medical, social (relational), and theological discourses. In this symposium, scholars from multiple disciplines, such as education/special education, sociology, psychology, literary theory, history, law, and medicine will reflect upon contrasting approaches to "the human spirit.” Presenters are encouraged to address different experiences of disability, including physical, intellectual, psychiatric, and developmental disabilities, as well as those living with chronic illness. We are interested in any topic in which the discourses of disability and spirituality intersect. Some examples: · Catholic social teaching; flourishing of the human person and community · Community-based services and long-term care · Disability justice · Ecumenical, interfaith, and non-religious perspectives · Ministry · Racial Justice · Technology The symposium will take place online on April 8-9, 2022, approximately three hours each day.
