Dear colleagues, comrades and friends,
I am writing to let you know about a 2 credit PhD/MA seminar in Helsinki,
Finland, January 17-19 2023 (with a disability dance day afterward):
“Diverse Embodiment in Performance Phenomenology,” a seminar that focuses
on performance phenomenology with an interest in timely problems in
embodiment in theatre, dance and performance and live art. Join us if you
are interested in arts-based research methods and approaches to/from/with
disability culture.

Students in the course will engage with two chapters from Petra Kuppers’ Eco
Soma: Pain and Joy in Speculative Performance Encounters (Minnesota,
2022), available for free online:
Chapter 1: Social Somatics: Tentacular Methods on the Horizon, at
https://manifold.umn.edu/read/eco-soma/section/7ba8186f-3203-43ca-9b3f-03511046e004##ch02
and
Chapter 4: Crip Time, Rhythms, and Slow Rays: Speculative Embodiment, at
https://manifold.umn.edu/read/eco-soma/section/bb445a0f-9e59-44af-8554-9ccf810e28b5##ch05
I already know of exciting European researchers who are coming, and I
thought that others might like to join us in cozy Helsinki, too.
Warm wishes,
Petra
