CFP: All Our Yesterdays: Disability in Ancient Egypt and Egyptology <https://networks.h-net.org/user/login?destination=node/10282588> by Alexandra Morris Call for Abstracts All Our Yesterdays: Disability in Ancient Egypt and Egyptology (Routledge) Edited by: Alexandra F. Morris and Hannah Vogel Series: Routledge Studies in Ancient Disabilities <https://www.routledge.com/Routledge-Studies-in-Ancient-Disabilities/book-series/ANCDIS> Series Editor: Dr Emma-Jayne Graham Key Dates: * Submission of abstracts 31st August 2022 * Expected submission of chapters around 31st March 2023 We are inviting contributions from (scholars, students, Egyptologists, disabled people/ museum professionals and university educators), to bring critical perspectives and approaches for a forthcoming edited volume All Our Yesterdays: Disability in Ancient Egypt and Egyptology to be submitted for publication by Routledge in the peer reviewed Routledge Studies in Ancient Disabilities <https://www.routledge.com/Routledge-Studies-in-Ancient-Disabilities/book-series/ANCDIS> Series. The book aims to critically investigate the often overlooked histories of disability in ancient Egypt and the discipline of Egyptology & Egyptian Archaeology. This book will identify and thoroughly consider the history of disabled people in ancient Egypt. It will also help illuminate and reshape narratives of disability experiences, and disability within the discipline of Egyptology and Egyptian Archaeology itself. Furthermore, it will challenge approaches towards terminology and tone in the field of ancient disability studies and offer guidance for including disability inclusively in curatorial and pedagogical museum and university contexts. Finally, it will encourage future critical investigations in this area in ways that are culturally contextualised. We seek submissions that cover but are not limited to: * The history of disability in ancient Egypt & Nubia (Predynastic- Roman Period) * Sources of evidence for disability in ancient Egypt and Nubia * Disability in Egyptology & the reception of Egyptology * Historiographical studies of disability in Egyptology * Disability and Ancient Egypt: Museums and the classroom * Accessibility in Egyptology and ancient Egyptian museum collections. * Lived experiences of disabled Egyptologists The temporal scope of this volume ranges from the Predynastic (6th Century BCE) – Roman Period (641 CE). We welcome contributions especially from the disability community and typically underrepresented groups. Abstracts are encouraged to be not more than 500 words in length. Please submit your abstracts and author details to disabilityancientegypt@gmail.com <mailto:disabilityancientegypt@gmail.com> by 31st August 2022.
